Electrical Reliability Engineer

CAREER OPPORTUNITY:

Primary responsibility for investigating and resolving electrical reliability issues within the facility.  Maintain close working interaction with the maintenance Team (Mechanical and Electrical) along with other stakeholders such as Mill Leadership, Production, Corporate Reliability Group (EMS), Key 3rd party contractors (OEM’s consultants, etc.) and SME’s within Smurfit WestRock to identify and resolve safety and reliability opportunities of the electrical assets at the mill.  Assist in outage and shutdown execution as required.

 


 HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:

Subject Matter Expert, SME for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of critical Electrical Systems and Equipment.  Electrical Equipment including Power Generation and distribution, Transformers, Switchgear, Protection Relays, Electrical Switching Low and high voltage motors and starters, UPS and battery charger systems, Variable Frequency Drives/soft Starters, Electrical Actuators, grounding systems, Lighting, Cathodic Protections, Portable Electrical Equipment etc.Maintain close working interaction with the maintenance Team (Mechanical and Electrical) along with other stakeholders such as Mill Leadership, Production, Corporate Reliability Group (EMS), Key 3rd party contractors (OEM’s consultants, etc.) and SME within Smurfit WestRock to identify and resolve safety and reliability opportunities of the electrical assets at the mill.Provide technical expertise to improve electrical equipment reliability by evaluating and /or redesigning equipment and systems.  Work to improve the integrity and reliability of all low, medium, and high voltage electrical installations, systems, and Equipment for the facility.  This includes but not limited to reliability improvements by developing engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other issues that adversely affect plant equipment operations, project management and trouble -shooting rolesSupport training Electrical programs for maintenance and operations personnel for safe and reliable operation and maintenance of lant power distribution systemsLead or support RCA efforts in areas of expertise and report outs.  Compiling recommendations and implementation/close-out and follow – upsSupport development and optimization of PMs for all the electrical equipment while ensuring the reliability and availability of electrical equipment throughout the facility through the effective PM and PDM strategies to prevent and resolve equipment failuresAssist outage planning and developing electrical work scopes and execution plansDesign and implement long-term continuous improvement projects and systems to improve electrical reliabilityParticipate in weekend call support on a rotating basis.Remain current on electrical standards, techniques, and practices, and thorough understanding of electrical standards (NEC,NFPA, 70E etc.)Experience with synchronous motor maintenance and troubleshootingLead electrical cold mill outage team, including temporary power setup and execution

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience in electrical engineering in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of electrical safe work practices and understanding of industry codesKnowledge and experience with three ;phase electrical systemsKnowledge of AC and DC electric motors and motor controls and electrical protections schemesKnowledge of instrumentation, PLC’s, and controlsExperience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as familiar with CMMS systems  like (SAP, Passport, JDE etc.)

 

 

PREFERRED / PLUS:

Experience in the Pulp and Paper IndustryManagement or project leadership experience in an industrial , manufacturing/production facility5 years or more experience in electrical engineering in manufacturing environmentBachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical EngineeringKnowledge of relay coordination, arc flash hazard and short circuit analysis
