Electrical Retrofit Portfolio Senior Technical Program Manager, Fleet Remediation Engineering

Fleet Remediation Engineering specializes in retrofit efforts that span several engineering disciplines and is applied across a variety of data center infrastructure designs. We align stakeholders to place a high focus on engineering design quality, implementation, and delivery of the most advanced, most difficult, and most ambiguous infrastructure retrofit efforts within the existing AWS data center community. By continuously mapping priorities defined via AWS’ Capital Improvement Prioritization Program (CIPP), we invest the proper time and effort into projects that achieve the largest bottom-line impact for the business. We are passionate about ensuring our latest innovations are implemented into our existing fleet to provide maximum benefit on behalf of our customers, and get our energy through challenge, innovation and design.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to support our portfolio of electrical retrofit programs that modernize and improve the reliability within our extensive data center fleet. The Sr. TPM will develop the strategy for the retrofit of the existing data center fleet with the latest generation of electrical products and electrical distribution infrastructure technologies. The Sr. TPM will apply their expertise to:

-Develop the path and strategy for incorporation of the latest electrical engineering solutions to existing data center fleet.
-Lead cross functional and technical teams to drive projects from concept to requirements definition, feasibility assessments, designs, implementation, testing, and deployment.
-Evaluate the requirements and actions that enable delivery of the electrical programs in our fleet of existing data centers.
-Prioritize programs within the electrical retrofit portfolio based on technical risks and gain alignment on that prioritization.

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 7-10+ years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical electrical engineering initiatives, as well as strategic program management. Experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments, R&D projects, and understanding of SQL data bases is a plus. A Bachelor's Degree or additional technical experience is required. Candidates possessing a background in architecture/design, electrical engineering, data center infrastructure/operations, and/or construction, who have transitioned to a program management discipline will have a distinct advantage.

Candidate must be comfortable managing conceptual development efforts, remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project or initiative implementation issues, and remove barriers to project or initiative success. Being able to evaluate project or initiative feasibility, create cross-functional matrix-based teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project or initiative delivery is a must.

The TPM will be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

Other requirements include proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, MS SharePoint and Smartsheet.
