Your role and responsibilities

Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role you will have to opportunity toProvides expert advice, in-house training and consultancy services to all BAs and Divisions in the Region to help ensure compliance with ABB’s electrical safety program. Champions ABB electrical safety initiatives in all applicable businesses in the region. Provides technical and electrical safety support and advice to personnel working at ABB facilities and ABB project and customers’ sites. Collaborates with the divisions who work on or near electrical lines, equipment, or systems or in an environment where increased probability of electric shock, electrocution or arc flash events occurring. Monitors ‘local’ electrical safety regulations and standards and provides technical support guidance to ensure compliance when changes occur. The work model for the role is: Hybrid, based within a 50-mile radius of an ABB facility or home based and near a major international airport.Preferred location: New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, IndiaYou will be mainly accountable for:•\tAdvises all ABB Divisions in the region on compliance with ABB standards and local government regulations as they relate to electrical safety.•\tDelivers Electrical Competency and Authorization Program (ECAP) Assessor training and undertakes ECAP assessments for Senior Authorized Person candidates and aligns the divisions according to the electrical competency model.•\tWorks with Divisional HSE Managers to review specific electrical safety training requirements for employees working within regional ABB production facilities and service operations.•\tWorks with Country Business Area and Divisional HSE Managers to identify and agree suppliers of Arc-flash workwear, test equipment and insulated tools.•\tSupports BA or Division HSE auditors by conducting electrical safety audits in the region in direct consultation with Divisional and Country HSE Managers and relevant Electrical Safety Champions.•\tProvides technical support to project, service, facility, maintenance, R&D and test floor Managers to ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards and government regulations. •\tLeads or assists in investigation of serious and high potential electrical incidents in the region.•\tConducts higher level electrical safety training for employees, contractors and customers as required.This position reports to ABB Global Electrical Safety Manager.

Qualifications for the role

\tBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar, or equivalent education and experience.\tInternationally recognised Health and Safety course and professional membership is an advantage. \tPreference is for an experienced Electrical Engineer or, alternatively, at least five years manufacturing, project, service, or management experience with a strong electrical bias.\tABB product knowledge and experience preferred.\tAbility to read and interpret documents such as legal briefs, technical data, electrical safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical drawings/schematics, and procedure manuals.\tAbility to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees comprised of various levels of personnel from senior executives to personnel working in the field. \tPossess strong influencing skills.
