Your role and responsibilities

The role of ESC LATAM North will be to drive Electrification (EL) Service electrical safety oversight and implementation of ABB Way standard SA-S-107 Requirements for Electrical Safety. This includes the execution of site inspections in the field, participation of HSE Country Reviews, deliver trainings to filed service teams and others to assure company and regulatory compliance with the ABB Way and applicable local requirements. This role will work collaboratively with the Field Service professionals, country teams and HSE professionals to drive electrical safety requirements, expectations, provide advice and manage challenges in projects or services. They will support incident investigations, and ELSE long-term goals to drive safety cultural change and reduce the number of electrical incidents to ZERO.This role will support Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Brazil and the incumbent of this role should be located in one of these 3 countries.The primary responsibilities for the Electrical Safety Champion (ESC) – LATAM role include:•\tWorks with the Local Division Manager to ensure the implementation of ABB’s and ELSE’s electrical safety requirements. This implementation is supported by the ELSE local and Regional HSE Managers and the Division Electrical Safety Authority. •\tActively participates in ELSE’s Electrical Safety Champion (ESC) network, including regular calls and an annual meeting. Ensures that all ELSE employees who participate in electrical activities in field service and/or workshops receive practical 7 Steps training in their local language every year.•\tSupport the overall ELSE Electrical and LOTO programs implementation to include policies, tools, training delivery, training content, and qualifications of trainers. •\tProvides other electrical safety training as required. Goes to customer sites regularly to conduct site inspections and support and mentor colleagues. •\tIs the local reference point for the knowledge and understanding of ABB and legal requirements regarding electrical safety. Shares lessons learned from ABB incidents with the local division teams in an effective way. •\tCarries out an annual electrical safety self-assessment of the local division and raises corrective actions where necessary. Keeps the Local Division and Regional Managers updated on their team’s electrical safety performance. •\tSupports the HSE function as advisor/subject matter expert in the investigation of any electrical incidents. The ESC may could also be an ECAP assessor if they have the necessary experience in field work and assess candidates as needed. •\tAct as an advisor and support all training efforts for electrical safety topics such as ABB’s Electrical Safety program, ECAP requirements, NFPA 70E, LOTO, permit to work systems, as well as other topics.

Qualifications for the role

An academic qualification in an electrical discipline Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Senior Electrical Technician or Senior Mechanical Technician (unless the candidate can demonstrate suitable knowledge and experience) Minimum 5-8 Years experience of progressive Field Service or similar Qualified at least to ABB’s ECAP Level 3, with potential to become Level 4 Operational experience in electrical field works similar to that done as a Field Service Engineer or in another relevant capacity Strength of character to discuss difficult issues with customers and senior management
