The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of electrical systems design, installation, testing, and commissioning for large-scale, complex maritime projects under Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). This role ensures that all electrical systems meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and Disney's exceptional quality standards.

This position is on-site in Papenburg, Germany.
What You Will Do:
Project Oversight:
Lead the electrical systems scope of work on assigned shipbuilding projects, ensuring alignment with design specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Collaborate with shipyards, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, navigation, and communication systems.
Ensure all electrical components comply with international maritime standards and Disney’s unique operational requirements.
Technical Expertise:
Review and validate electrical designs, technical drawings, and system schematics.
Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT), harbor acceptance tests (HAT), and sea trials (SAT) to validate system performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical system issues during the construction and commissioning phases.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of contact between WDI and external stakeholders for all electrical-related activities, including shipyard teams, classification societies, and system integrators.
Liaise with Disney Cruise Line operational teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and compliance with operational requirements.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct inspections and quality checks on electrical installations to ensure compliance with Disney standards and regulatory requirements.
Document and report progress, challenges, and resolutions to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations throughout all phases of the project.
Stay informed about advancements in electrical technologies and regulations relevant to the maritime industry.
Collaboration with Classification Societies:
Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards set forth by classification societies (e.g., DNV, Lloyd’s Register, ABS), demonstrating thorough knowledge and understanding of these requirements.
Act as the primary liaison between the classification society and the shipyard during inspections, tests, and certification processes.
Provide expertise on electrical system design, construction, and operation to meet regulatory and classification requirements.
Warranty Process Support:
Partner with the DCL Marine Technical Operations (MTO) and shipyard to address and resolve warranty claims related to electrical systems.
Identify, document, and monitor electrical issues arising during the warranty period, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
Work closely with suppliers and contractors to implement solutions that align with warranty obligations.
Partnership with Disney Cruise Line Marine Technical Operations (DCL MTO):
Collaborate with DCL MTO to maintain and improve the functionality, safety, and efficiency of electrical systems.
Provide technical guidance and support for vessel operations, including troubleshooting and upgrades.
Facilitate knowledge transfer and align WDI efforts with DCL operational requirements and long-term maintenance strategies.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in electrical systems, with a strong focus on maritime projects.
In-depth knowledge of maritime electrical systems, including Azipods, dynamic positioning systems, automation, and power generation.
Proven experience with ship construction, commissioning, and delivery processes.
Familiarity with international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, IMO, and class society requirements).
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong project management and organizational abilities.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines.
Timely delivery of electrical systems within project schedules.
Adherence to budget constraints without compromising quality.
Successful commissioning and handover of electrical systems with minimal deficiencies.
Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders regarding performance and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in cruise ship construction or refurbishment projects.
Strong understanding of Disney’s operational and safety standards.
Fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred or equivalent experience combined with a strong track record of success in relevant roles will also be considered.
