Your Opportunity
You will work with general supervision and direction on the electrical design for a broad range of projects across multiple sectors including Buildings, Utility, Transportation, and Community development. You will participate in the facility evaluation, conceptual planning, design development, preparation of working documents, assistance during tender, construction supervision, and post-construction services. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include design, drafting, calculations, and field work.
Your Key Responsibilities Responsible for electrical design and working documents production on projects of varying complexity/size supporting design for buildings, underground electrical distribution systems, lighting, and wiring means. Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building and utility systems. Prepares and revises documentation during various electrical project phases. Participates in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. Participates in client project requirement meetings. Assists upper-level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule. Engages in the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. Performs calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software. Conducts quality assurance and quality control of working documents. Assists in the development of tools, methodology, and detail libraries for preparation of electrical working documents. Provide and or support construction administration for projects designed by you as well as by others Your Capabilities and Credentials Comprehensive knowledge and application of Canadian Electrical Code and applicable building, utility, and energy codes. General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. Knowledge of electrical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards. Ability manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. Thorough understanding of electrical design concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite Preferred experience with design software, e.g. Revit, AutoCAD, and AGI32.Education and Experience The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of experience. Training in electrical engineering technology from a recognized school. Knowledge of relevant codes and design standards.
Flexible office environment to suit the employees preferred working environment of either full-time or part-time in the office. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
