Electrical Test Lab Engineer

Everyone at Prysmian has the potential to make their mark; because whatever you do, wherever you are based, you will be part of a company that is helping transform the world around us._** **About the Marshall Technology Center and Role:** Established in 1968, The Marshall Technology Center (MTC) is a world-class facility specializing in the testing and qualification of medium and high voltage cables utilized for power distribution applications. Our day-to-day operations focus on project execution supporting the evaluation, qualification, and development of MV/HV cables produced in Prysmian facilities across North America. As a result of an internal promotion, our facility is searching for a degreed Electrical Engineer to replace the MTC’s previous Electrical Test Lab Engineer. This is a 100% on-site role that will support the daily operations of the MTC, directly reporting to the Electrical Test Lab Manager. **Basic Function:** The primary function of the Electrical Test Lab Engineer is to perform project administration for testing of medium voltage and high voltage cables used in power distribution. This is accomplished through interpretation of industry standards, development of test equipment and procedures, while facilitating communication between cross-functional teams. Project initiation, tracking, data acquisition and reporting are accomplished using a proprietary Database and Test Request System (TSR), whereas the Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and retention of test results within the Database. The Engineer shall maintain existing test equipment as well as work with R&D personnel to develop new fixtures, procedures, and equipment as needed. The Electrical Test Lab Engineer will also function as the Marshall Technology Center’s on-site Safety Champion. The Engineer will hold monthly safety meetings, safety training of associates, develop/execute environmental, health and safety plans for the tech center according to company guidelines, evaluate workplace hazards, while ensuring that the MTC maintains compliance with OSHA requirements. **Principle Duties and Responsibilities:** + Prepare test setup, procedures, and work orders per industry cable testing standards. + Champion the Safety Program at the MTC. + Report Generation via PC (Word, MTC Proprietary Database, SharePoint). + Ensures the validity and completeness of test data and reports. + Manage cable failure analyses and coordinate with key stakeholders for failure report generation/approval. + Manage the high voltage cable splicing training school, working with internal and external customers to facilitate certifications. + Troubleshooting test equipment/fixtures. + Documenting knowledge gaps for existing equipment. **Minimum Requirements:** + Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. + Experience in electrical testing and troubleshooting + Healthy respect for high-voltage environments, as this is an active testing facility. + Demonstrates sound technical skills and attention to detail. + Knowledge of grounding and protection methods. **Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** + The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. + The ability to accurately determine scope and difficulty of tasks and projects; organizing work into logical process steps; using time effectively; and establishing priorities. + The ability to work as an individual or as a team. + Attention to ensure own safety and the safety of others. + Demonstrates a commitment to consistently complete tasks on time; persists in the face of obstacles; results oriented. + The ability to gather specific information to understand issues and use sound problem-solving techniques. **Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** + Previous medium or high voltage experience + Formal laboratory training + Knowledge of ICEA or ANSI standards for medium and high voltage cables + Microsoft SharePoint, PowerApps and Office Suite advanced user + Electrical / Automation Controls Experience + RS Logix and/or Productivity (Automation Direct) hardware + PLC / HMI Programming + .NET, C#, C++ Programming + MathCAD + LabVIEW **Work Environment/Physical Demands:** + Requires visual and mental attention to details with regards to working around cutting equipment, hot surfaces/materials, and high voltage test equipment. + Requires some lifting and general operation of larger tools and equipment. + At times working conditions can have excess heat, fumes, water, and noise. _Prysmian, as an Equal Opportunity Employer, aims to attract and recruit individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
