Description
The Electrical Test Technologist will be part of the Transmission and Distribution Team. The technologist to Perform laboratory-based testing on electrical substation equipment, overhead & underground transmission line components.
Participate within a team of technologists in the High Current Lab (Lines Asset Management Department) to provide technical support and testing services in areas such as test development, test construction, test operation, technical analysis, and preparation of test reports in relation to equipment testing and arc testing on fabrics and PPE products. Perform testing in high current laboratory to determine the performance, condition, and standard compliance of electrical apparatus, such as transformers, switches, breakers, grounding equipment, and connectors; and assess the performance of PPE, etc. Gain knowledge of the equipment and experience to become familiar with the operating procedures.
Assist or carry out laboratory for studies/projects by developing and installing data acquisition systems, sensors and other monitoring and diagnostic equipment. Maintain test equipment, instrumentation and facilities needed for the laboratory and field test sites. Prepare and complete test data sheets, prepare progress reports and other reports such as routine test reports and equipment packing/shipping reports. The initial assignment is within the Line Asset Management (LAM) Department.
DAY TO DAY
30% physical set ups,
25 % is data acquisition system, connecting sensors, readings.

•\tAssist with installation of laboratory equipment and test fixtures
•\tConduct high current lab tests on safety equipment (PPE) and electrical apparatus (e.g. switches, breakers, transformers, etc.)
•\tPerform routine electrical tests, investigations, and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, non-destructive evaluation, and material science.
•\tPerform sample preparations, job safety analysis, custom test setup, and execute tests.
•\tAssist the test lead with preparation of test plans and test log sheets.
•\tAdhere to quality assurance protocol.
•\tParticipate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages
•\tWrite reports of a predominantly routine nature, and complete data log sheets
•\tEnsure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
•\tPerform shipping, receiving, calibration, housekeeping, inventory control, and maintenance
•\tPerform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems
