Job Introduction

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Electrician to join our team at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester, Essex  CO2 7UT to help keep our facilities running smoothly. Reporting to the Hard FM Supervisor, you will deliver day-to-day electrical services across our regional sites, manage contractors and suppliers, and ensure all planned and reactive maintenance is completed safely and on time.

 What you’ll do:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of electrical and building services equipment (boilers, pumps, air systems, lighting, control panels, etc.).

Diagnose faults and complete repairs within your technical capability.

Support statutory, legislative and mandatory electrical maintenance tasks.

Work with subcontractors for testing, inspections and maintenance.

Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.

Provide real-time updates to the Digi Hub and ensure safe working practices at all times.

 

What you bring:

Essential

Stage 3 Electrician with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ relevant experience.

Inspection & Testing Level 3 (City & Guilds).

Strong problem-solving skills and practical electrical engineering knowledge.

Good understanding of health & safety standards.

Ability to plan and manage your own workload.

Fluent written and spoken English.

Full, clean UK driving licence.

Proficient IT skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, CAFM/CMMS).

Desirable

Property maintenance experience.

Familiarity with Maximo or EZ Max systems.

Experience working with subcontractors.

Previous AP/CP appointment in Electrical, Boilers/Pressure Systems, Working at Heights or Confined Spaces.

Knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations.
