POSITION SUMMARY

Marathon Petroleum Company, LP the largest petroleum refining and marketing corporation in the United States, has an immediate opening for an Electrician at its Catlettsburg, Kentucky refinery.

Starting pay rate for this role is $50.89/hr with contractual rate increases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Environmental Steward

Operates and maintains refinery electrical systems in compliance with Safe Work Instructions (SWI), Mechanical Integrity (MI) Program, and all other Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.  Uses safe work practices and requires the same from others.

Participates in safety and PSM processes and completes individual assignments.

Reports safety and environmental incidents, concerns, and problems to appropriate personnel.

Responds to electrical emergencies and assists operations.

Coordinates and communicates activities with co-workers, operations and other affected personnel.

Maintains safety qualifications.

Strictly adhere to Marathons electrical safe work practices RSP-1162

Documents/records necessary data including work completed, QA/QC requirements, and time confirmation.

Equipment Reliability Specialist

Monitors and cares for the electrical equipment to ensure the refinery runs safely, reliably, and profitably.

Ensures safe and proper operation of electrical equipment by completing required preventive maintenance.

Keeps refinery on-stream by performing timely and effective repairs to electrical systems.

Troubleshooter

Troubleshoots electrical equipment problems and takes appropriate action to keep refinery on-stream and reliable.

Safely and effectively diagnoses electrical problems by discussion with owner, inspection of equipment, and appropriate testing.

Generates safe, cost-effective solutions using team members and other resources as necessary.

Obtains required parts and materials.

Implements reliable fixes in a safe and timely fashion.

Electrical Distribution System Operator

Completes required weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections of electrical equipment on the power system.

Performs switching on the electrical system based on written procedures.

Safely executes planned outages for maintenance and construction

Training

Keeps skills and knowledge up-to-date on an ongoing basis.

Completes training in a timely manner, including required regulatory and refresher training.

Stays current with changes to refinery electrical systems.

Provides training for new hires and other appropriate personnel.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

High School diploma or GED is required.

A valid driver's license is required.

Five years of electrician work is preferred.

Five years of experience in refining, chemical, power industry, or related military experience is preferred.

Trade school or certificate in an electrical maintenance program is preferred.

Strong communication skills.

Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.).

Successful completion of a skills assessment.
