This position is responsible for assisting the Electrical Supervisor in the installation of wiring and electrical fixtures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
Performs preventative maintenance and installation of electrical equipment and all associated systems and devicesRepairs or replaces electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand and power toolsConnects wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other componentsSecondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of systemResponsible for all departmental logs/record keeping and labor recording pertinent to their day-to-day job dutiesAssists other trades, as neededMinimum Education and Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalentMust possess and maintain a current State of Connecticut Occupational License E-2 or aboveMust be able to pass both verbal and technical proficiency test and demonstrate skills necessary to perform specific job functionsKnowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the tradeMust be able to read and work from blueprintsPossesses a working knowledge of the electrical trade including the concepts of voltage, current and power and the properties and uses of electrical componentsCompetencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
Good written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the tradeProficient in the operation and sequencing of all electrical systems, components and switchingTraining Requirements:
OSHA Lockout/Tag out proceduresSpill Prevention Control and Countermeasure trainingRespirator training and fit testedMan lift training, (scissor and boom lift)Forklift trainingConfined space trainingFall protectionPhysical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a smoking environment as well as various weather conditions including extreme hot and coldMust be able to work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixturesMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb a ladderMust be able to work various shifts and flexible hoursThis is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, requirements or working conditions associated with this job.
