We are hiring one (1) temporary full time, Electrician 1 (Flow Control Facilities) position working from our Aurum location in Edmonton, AB.

The Electrician FCF (Flow Control Facilities) is accountable for maintaining and repairing the electrical equipment at wastewater collection facilities, construction sites, and storm facilities. This includes achieving the completion of assigned maintenance work orders with time spans of up to 3 months.
What you’d be responsible for
Responding to emergency repair and SCADA alarm calls, take effective actions to ensure electrical equipment failures have been fixed or contained.Executing assigned electrical maintenance work orders on schedule.Performing preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment including manufacturers’ prescribed maintenance, cleaning, testing, adjusting and calibrating to minimize operational failures, and tracing and labeling of wiring, switches and devices to indicate their uses and settings.Performing electrical repairs during work hours and in response to emergency calls after scheduled work hours, to expedite rectification of operational failures. Troubleshooting, repairing and replacing electric motors, motor control centers (MCCs), lighting, heating, ventilation and electric generator components. Programing, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing variable frequency drives (VFDs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), operator interfaces, overload relays, smart motor controllers (soft starters) etc.Installing new CSA-approved electrical equipment and instruments, including wiring, replacing defective items and refurbishing existing installations.Operating computers to calibrate and configure instruments, data loggers, retrieve data, run reports, Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Modems,Preparing as-built wiring schematic diagrams and electrical specifications of completed installations. Assisting with preparation and maintenance of standard wiring schematic diagrams and electrical specifications for upgraded and new facilities.Preparing and maintaining up-to-date system records, including databases, computer files, manuals, as-built drawings of pump station layouts and wiring diagrams of electrical and electronic systems using spreadsheets, word processors and computer-aided drawing softwareCompleting time sheets, trouble reports, inspection logs and keeping diary records of completed and scheduled work and meetings.Attending meetings on operational issues and training sessions on safety; tailgate talks, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, confined space entry procedures, first aid, chemical hazard regulations and specialist courses related to the electrical trades.Inspecting work done by contractors and report on its compliance with applicable standards, specifications and good practice.
What’s required to be successful
Alberta Certified Journeyman Electrician. (Red Seal if journeyman status achieved in another provinceAbility to read and modify electrical schematics.Demonstrated understanding of the principles of electricity and electronics, telecommunication, and computer networks.Detailed familiarity with the physical nature of electrical equipment and instruments.Basic knowledge of the Windows operating systems, and ability to use windows-based software.Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License, with 6 or fewer demerits, and able to meet the conditions required for an EPCOR driver's permit.
