REPORTING: Reports to the Chief Electrician
PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS: -
Must be eligible to work in Angola without a visa sponsorship Graduate of Trade School or University where knowledge and training acquired are applicable to job requirements High School Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Electrician/ Proof of Completion of Formal Education or Relevant Craft Certificate (where applicable)5 years' experience on Drillship Vessel Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electrical operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skillsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations/Maintenance: -
Perform daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipmentComply with the permit to work and isolation systemsCarry out periodic maintenance according to the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) guidelines and coordinate that maintenance with supervisor and other department headsMaintain, troubleshoot and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, i.e. generators and engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, transformers, etc.Assist with the maintenance and repair of general rig equipment such as HVAC system, refrigeration plants, communication systems, lighting, etc.Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling equipment, i.e. Driller’s console, DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Top Drive System, drawworks, mud pumps, etcCarry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of marine equipment, i.e. thruster motors and auxiliaries, ballast pumps, control panels, cranes, etc.Install new equipment as required, with regards to electrical wiring, fixtures and junction boxes, etc.Assist in performing and interpreting power calculations, power factor, insulation tests, and positive relay tests as requiredStudy and understand electrical schematics as required -Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfill maintenance requirements; inform Chief Electrician when there is need to reorder.Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rigAssist with the implementation of outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig managementEnsure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete -Assist in supplying information for maintenance and repair budgetCommunicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support GroupIncorporate the THINK planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team -Participate daily in START ProcessApply START Monitoring during the execution of planned tasksCall a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observedCarry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures -Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings as requiredReport any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads -Respond to emergency situations as per designation on station bill -Assist in preparing Safety Analysis for hazardous situations -Ensure that all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to during mechanical maintenance workAssist in ensuring that a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig -Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for environmental protectionMeet the training requirements of the applicable training matrixParticipate fully in the annual performance appraisal processAssist with the supervision and training of the Electrical TraineeMaintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary proceduresIf you want to push yourself to great achievement, let Transocean develop your career.
