Hydro Electrician Operator (EO)
An Electrician Operator or EO is a dual qualified craft employee with the skills and training necessary to perform the tasks normally associated with a Journeyman Electrician as well as well as those associated with a B Operator.
Position Summary
Georgia Power seeks a highly skilled, dual-qualified craft employee for an Electrician Operator (EO) position to operate & maintain hydroelectric generating plants within the Chattahoochee Hydro Group, located in the Columbus, GA area. The duties of an EO include operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing the plants’ electrical equipment. This position helps maintain plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system, Maximo.
Education
HS Graduate or Equivalent 2-Year College/Technical Degree or Equivalent Military Training preferred
Job Experience
Power generation experience is desired; hydroelectric generation experience is a plus. Industrial maintenance and troubleshooting experience desired. Experience in industrial electrical or certified training desired.
Job Requirements
Ability to perform thorough and effective operator rounds, evaluate equipment conditions, and identify potential hazards. Write condition reports for any noted deficiencies. Strong electric aptitude and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment are required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and acquire basic computer skills. Work with other departments for the successful execution of scheduled work and planned outages by supporting planning and scheduling activities. This includes assisting with work scope identification through system walk downs and evaluations. Must be able to work in difficult environments including confined spaces, extreme hot and cold temperatures, indoors and outdoors, around loud noise and locations accessible only via vertical ladders or over uneven spaces, cat walks, climbing high elevations up to 100 feet or working on grated surfaces/platforms. Must perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) which may include safety glasses, hard hats, steel toe shoes, gloves, and hearing protection.

Must be able to support a 24/7 shift schedule, including overtime, holiday and back shift work. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, team player. Must be able to handle complex, high-pressure situations and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
