General Job Description:\n
Plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment.\n
Functional Requirements:\n
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring consist with specifications and local electrical codes; prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring; measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit; pulls wiring through conduit; splices wires; connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment; installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels; connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads; tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components; observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement; may repair faulty equipment or systems.\n
Qualification Standards:\n
\u2022 High school or equivalent
\u2022 One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
\u2022 Knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
\u2022 Working on or above 600V or 69kV industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification
\u2022 Most jobsites require NCCER certification for A-class Electricians
\u2022 Written pre-employment qualification test
\u2022 Post-offer drug\/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
\u2022 Hazard Communication orientation\/test
\u2022 Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
\u2022 OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
\u2022 Job site orientation
\u2022 Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)\n
Tools\/Equipment:\n
Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, slide cutter, channel locks, adjustable wrench, torpedo level, diagonal or stakon pliers, needle nose pliers, allen wrenches, voltage tester, electrician's knife, rule, pencil, tool pouch, fillister screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, crescent wrenches, hacksaw, and rain suit\n
Physical Involvement:\n
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and\/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching\/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction\n
