Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock is adding an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Manufacturing Technician role to our Sub-Assembly production line in Lexington NC. In this exciting role your primary responsibility will be to drive the production team in continuous improvement of safety, quality, schedule, and budget. This role will encompass using Lean Manufacturing principles both on the production floor and during the production planning phases. You will help the production team in technical problem solving for topics including standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, safety, engineering drawings and BOMs, and process improvements.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Reviewing engineering drawings to gain an understanding of manufacturing process requirements such as job sequence, workflow, and takt time.Work as a liaison between production and engineering team.Assist Industrial & Manufacturing Engineers to prepare future production floor layouts to meet planned takt time and schedule.Preparing Standardized work instructions.Setting up stations with accurate fixtures, templates (drilling, small components, mounting), tooling, and equipment. Order and maintain calibrated tools.Program wire printing and cutting machine. Help with preventative maintenance.Support prototyping of new assemblies and train technicians working on electrical & mechanical assemblies on new products.Providing critical process control guidance to production, maintenance, and quality control to improve the overall quality of our products.Coordinating and communicating technical information to and from all levels of the organization including vendors, project managers, production team members, and operations managers.To thrive in this role, you have:
High School Diploma/GED.5 Years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment.Firm project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines / schedules etc.Practical knowledge and experience in the implementation of the lean toolbox.A history of “hands-on” approach to problem solving and countermeasure implementation.Experience using different types of bills of materials between engineering and production.Setting you apart from others would be an associate’s degree in an Industrial, Manufacturing, Automation, or Mechatronics field of study with 5 + years of experience planning and supporting launch of new production lines in a low-speed production environment (e.g. rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, heavy equipment, etc.). Work experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail, heavy rail, or related production, and knowledge of SAP or similar MRP / ERP systems is highly desired. One or more certification (or equivalent coursework) in the following fields- Lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing engineer, Supply Management with practical experience in Customer Service / Maintenance / After Market businesses and technologies within the rail industry are highly preferred. Relevant experience applying and implementing lean methods and tools such as 5s, 7 Types of Waste (Muda), root cause analysis and corrective actions, Yamazumi Methods, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping / Process Flow Diagrams, ABC-XYZ Analysis, and Lean Shop Floor Management Model is desired as well.Why you'll love working for Siemens!

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $62,800-$74,000. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
