Internship Program Overview:

Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Summary of Role:

The non-volatile memory team at GlobalFoundries has a primary mission to understand the fundamentals of non-volatile memory devices and to determine how those devices can best be deployed to meet the application requirements of the broad range of GF’s customers.  Some of the emerging memories in this space have very interesting and complex physics which underly their operation. 

Having a good understanding of the internal physics of a device is essential.  To this end, the intern for this role will help to create a simulation model of the device physics for the operation of an RRAM and ECRAM device.  The role will focus on understanding the interplay of the electrochemistry inside the device to predict the impact of materials choices and external electric fields/currents on the device behavior.

Essential Responsibilities include:

Developing physical model for the operation of the device working with TCAD and device engineering.Building a simulation framework to allow for key figure of merit extraction.Propose and analyze experiment results towards validating the veracity of the physical models and simulations.Present project status to peers and the leadership team as needed.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Device Physics, Physics, Electro Chemistry, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)Ability to work 40 hours per week during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior related internship or co-op experienceDemonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.Strong written and verbal communication skillsStrong planning & organizational skillsFamiliarity with TCAD simulation tools
