The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Electrolyzer R&D Department in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department’s projects. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.
This internship will take an active role in the development and testing of critical anode and cathode flow field materials and bipolar plates in Plug Power’s best-in-class electrolyzers. The work entails characterization and data analysis of mechanical, chemical, and electrical properties to validate new materials and troubleshoot manufacturing issues with current materials. Design and fabrication of inspection equipment will be involved, as well as brainstorming, proposing, and following through with tests most appropriate for the necessary results. The project includes direct work with the head of the materials team with frequent communication and check-ins. The major goal of the project is to identify and quantify performance, modes of failure, and critical properties of the electrolyzer materials through testing and in-depth, hands-on learning.
