Electronic Maintenance Technician - BWX Technologies, Inc.  - Barberton, Ohio

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electronic Maintenance Technician will be assigned to the Maintenance Department and report to the Maintenance Lead Technician.

Works as a team member of a group of electronic technicians, mechanical technicians, reliability engineers, parts technicians, management, and other maintenance staff.

Leads and assists in the modification, repair, and improvement of existing electronic equipment and controls, and will assist in developing new or updated electronic systems as required.

Maintains and makes necessary operating adjustments to electronic systems.

Determines part replacement needs and takes action to ensure the necessary repairs can be made in an efficient manner.

Participates and leads in the development, execution, and record keeping of various electronic equipment as it relates to the preventative maintenance of production and facilities equipment.

Performs troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and modification of various manufacturing and production equipment, including machine power, instrumentation, control systems, etc.

Performs machine positional accuracy testing using laser measurement equipment. Troubleshoots and corrects machine deficiencies to meet calibration requirements.

Develops systems and assists employees regarding safe working procedures and requirements when working with electronic equipment and components.

Develops and maintains records related to electronic and electrical equipment.

Applies electronic theory, electrical theory, and related knowledge while working with the facilities and engineering groups on various projects.

Ensures local, state, and national electrical codes are followed and proper materials are used on equipment and projects for which they are responsible.

Reports potentially dangerous electronic/electrical equipment and takes steps to resolve the issue.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a 2nd shift position with the following core hours, Mon-Fri (3:00pm-11:30pm).  Additional details on schedule requirements will be covered.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical or associate degree preferred. 

6 years minimum experience is required.

Must be available for schedule overtime, including some weekends.

Experience working with production/manufacturing equipment is a plus.  Including items such as: PLC’s, VFD’s, CNC programming, machine controls, feedback devices, scales, rotary encoders, etc.

Siemens machine controls experience is a plus.

Possesses knowledge and demonstrates competency applicable to National Electric Codes and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and recommendations.  (i.e. Arc Flash training, wire and component sizing, etc.)
