Electronic Medical Record Clinical Systems Analyst

Position Summary:

Leads clients and laboratory department staff with development, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading laboratory interfaces through to the client’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Identifies and resolves deficiencies and production issues alongside technical (IT) teams.  Assists in evaluating clinical operations and workflow, addressing needs of individual offices and other health care facilities.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.    Responsible for documenting laboratory clinical and business processes/procedures and making recommendations for upgrades/improvements.
2.    Responsible for the on-going maintenance, testing, development of workflows, workflow analysis, technical build/configuration, change documentation, and application deployment/support of EMR systems. 
3.    Assists in site pre-assessment workflow visits to  client locations,, to ensure overall readiness. Also, serves as a primary resource and support for interface solutions during site activations.
4.    Configures Electronic Health Record (EHR) and related systems, including user security, parameter settings, and business rules. Responsible for solution build within the interface for any new interface spokes, service line, acute, and ambulatory venues (as applicable). 
5.    Assists physicians, office staff, and architects to determine feasibility of new technologies and systems related to adoption of technology.
6.    Creates technical documentation detailing configurations, application environments, problem solutions, and knowledge-based articles.

Required:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Education, Information Technology, Nursing, Medical Technology, or related field; or Associates Degree in Health Sciences, Education, Information Technology, Nursing, Medical Technology, or related field with 5 years healthcare experience.
•    2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
•    Ability to travel to offices in all McLaren Regions. Travel will be kept to a minimum, unless additional resources are needed.
•    Maintain a valid driver’s license, current car insurance, and a motor vehicle record in accordance with McLaren’s driving guidelines.

Preferred:  

•    Working experience/knowledge with HL7 messaging.
•    Three years’ experience in EMR and computer interfacing in a health care environment.  
•    Working experience in Information Technology.
•    Clinical laboratory workflow experience.
