**Job Description**

The selected candidate will join our team as a Lead Production Technician in support of the AN/UPX-46 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system. In this role, you will ensure that assembly and manufacturing processes align with BAE Systems high-quality standards and the U.S. Government requirements. You will work closely with your peers to inspect new parts and assemble kits. If selected you will maintain open communication, and foster teamwork between the three entities in the department.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Serve as a production liaison, ensuring parts availability to prevent assembly disruptions.
+ Report production hours, serial numbers, and conversions in the Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs) and relevant databases.
+ Monitor adherence to soldering and cable fabrication standards, as learned in certification courses, to guarantee compliance and quality in manufacturing processes.
+ Create and modify drawings, manufacturing, and wiring assembly instructions under government direction.
+ Develop prototypes and adapters as required.
+ Manage and track the calibration of all equipment, including multimeters, crimpers, and soldering stations.
+ Attend weekly meetings to update project leaders on equipment fabrication progress, ensuring timely completion and reporting.
+ Collaborate closely with other technicians on projects involving Combat Identification equipment, such as the Mark XI and Mark XIIA systems.
+ Work alongside BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite government representatives to ensure seamless project execution.
+ Conduct inspections on incoming metalwork and oversee pre-expendable bin inventory and maintenance.
+ Travel 30% to assist with Navy ship modifications and IFF equipment repairs.
+ Lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
+ Occasional overtime or weekend hours may be required to meet installation and repair deadlines.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $29.36/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in electronic systems troubleshooting and repair, or completion of vocational technical training in electronics
+ Proficient in using basic hand tools and general computer skills
+ Physical capable of lifting 40 pounds and perform material movement, storage, and handling tasks
+ Familiarity with Navy stock systems, as well as maintaining a safe and orderly work area
+ Ability to successfully complete BAE Systems solder certification, cable fabrication, and SMT training
**Pay Information**
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
