Electronic Warfare Subject Matter Expert (EW SME) Position Title: Electronic Warfare Subject Matter Expert (EW SME) Location: Pax River - Remote Available Travel: Required as needed Background The Advanced Electronic Attack (AEA) Program Office (PMA-234) provides both legacy (ALQ-99) and advanced (Next Generation Jammer (NGJ)) electronic warfare products and services in support of the EA-18G. PMA-234 aligns the necessary commodities in the form of external pods to meet EA mission requirements, while PMA-265 functions as the U.S. Navy acquisition office for the EA-18G. NSWC Crane has historically supported NAVAIR throughout the development and acquisition of ALQ-99, NGJ, and EA-18G systems. It continues to serve as the Fielded Systems Team (FST) and Depot source of repair for various electronic warfare (EW) mission-related systems. Additionally, NSWC Crane provides Science and Technology (S&T) and Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) support to the DoD, NAVAIR, and the Fleet. Objective and Scope The primary objective of this position is to provide Electronic Warfare (EW) Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to NSWC Crane’s Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Systems Division. The EW SME will focus on Science and Technology (S&T), Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E), and AEA commodities in direct support of PMA-234 initiatives. The position requires interaction with uniformed Navy personnel, NSWC Crane civilians, and NAVAIR personnel. Travel is necessary to fulfill specific tasking requirements. Primary Responsibilities The EW SME will support NSWC Crane’s AEA Systems Division through the following task areas: 1. AEA Systems Division NGJ Capability Support + Identify requirements and provide recommendations for system, subsystem, software, equipment, and component compatibility. + Document data and analyze interface issues, developing recommended solutions. + Review and monitor system tolerances and evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to assess impacts on system interfaces. + Contribute to trade studies and risk reduction assessments for prime mission and support equipment. + Develop risk mitigation solutions and provide technical insights into system performance improvements. 2. AEA Systems Division NGJ Capability Support – S&T/RDT&E and Modifications + Assist in recording, tracking, shipping, and analyzing interim support system procurements, movements, and rework of NGJ assets. + Maintain, store, modify, and update records of system and subsystem components throughout their interim support phase. + Provide recommendations for enhancing maintenance plans and propose alternative strategies to reduce total system lifecycle ownership costs. + Offer support to NGJ’s Cooperative Partner, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), as needed. 3. AEA Systems Division Growler Advanced Capability Support + Conduct facilities assessments, analyzing production capacity, procedures, repair processes, and compliance with FAR Clause 52.245-1 and Government Property Part 45. + Ensure accurate financial reporting for production materials and end-unit deliverables. + Develop innovative solutions to improve first-pass yield, supply chain delivery of NGJ components, and overall test processes and procedures. + Contribute to trade studies, analysis of alternatives, sustainability assessments, and strategies for production improvements. + Travel to subcontractor locations as required. Deliverables + Provide all necessary documentation as per the Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL). + Ensure all data is delivered in electronic format whenever feasible. Qualifications & Experience + Extensive knowledge of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, particularly Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) and ALQ-99. + Experience supporting AEA platforms such as the EA-18G Growler. + Strong background in RDT&E, S&T, and acquisition-related EW efforts. + Familiarity with NAVAIR, NSWC Crane, and DoD EW systems. + Understanding of production and sustainment processes, trade studies, and lifecycle management. + Ability to interface with military, government, and industry stakeholders effectively. + Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Security Clearance Requirement + Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Employment Type Contractor Minimum Experience Experienced
