Your role and responsibilities

The Smart Buildings (ELSB) business segment digitally transforms commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to optimize comfort, efficiency, safety, and security, thereby improving the quality of life in the buildings of the future through sustainable electrification solutions, services, and products.The Electronics Engineer – Operational Support works at our emergency lighting and printed circuit board manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, this person’s main mandate is to develop, modify, and improve the electrical and electronic designs of our active emergency lighting products. Collaborating with operational teams, this person oversees the validation of designs and the maintenance of product performance and provides technical support to operations regarding the electrical and electronic design of our products. This person ensures rapid intervention and aims to implement sustainable solutions to encountered problems.•\tManage various projects for modifying, improving, and updating our printed circuit board designs.•\tApprove electrical plans for printed circuit boards.•\tParticipate in design modifications (DFA) and implement corrections to replace end-of-life electronic components (obsolescence).•\tSupport operational teams with the electrical/electronic requirements and specifications of active products.•\tUnderstand and apply internal processes, applicable standards, and performance requirements of our products.•\tEnsure compliance with deadlines, budgets, and project quality.•\tAlign with ABB's core values of safety and integrity, meaning taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the company.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, member of OIQ.Minimum of 2 years of experience as a printed circuit board designer, ideally in the field of power electronics or battery systems.Knowledge of Altium Designer software.Proficiency in C and Assembly language programming.Knowledge of the I2C communication protocol is an asset.Collaborative approach and initiative, solution-oriented, and strong written and verbal communication skills.Essential bilingualism, French and English, spoken and written. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
