Who will you be working with?
The WPT Electronics Lead Supplier Quality Engineer supports both our Duncan and Greenville, SC facilities and is responsible for critical component development, quality management, continuous improvement, and qualification activities at suppliers.
How will you make a difference?
The Supplier Quality Engineer position requires effective communication at all levels both with internal and external teams, conducting failure analysis, leading statistical process control activities for critical components, travel to in-region suppliers, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal: developing suppliers by teaching best practices for manufacturing, quality, and engineering, delivering on time quantities of high-quality component parts into Wabtec’s Transit production facilities.

Knowledge of ISO, IRIS, or other certifying bodies’ standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques

Understanding manufacturing, material flow, process change, and quality processes
Strong problem-solving and data analytics skills
Ability to develop and execute objectives for self and others and the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals

Direct experience collaborating with engineering and/or manufacturing operations
Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together
Ability to work on own initiative and knows when to seek guidance
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience of 2-5 years.
Ability to travel up to 25%, possibly on short notice
Desired Characteristics
Previous experience in an electronics-focused Supplier Quality role
Experience with manufacturing, selling, or designing of industrial electronical components such as PCBAs or wiring harnesses.
Prior practical experience and implementation of Quality Engineering tools and systems such as: FMEA, APQP, PPAP, control plans, material control, process control, systems performance, product evaluation
Auditor certification such as EMS/QMS, AIAG, ISO
What will your typical day look like?
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence others and lead cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of engineering requirements and mechanical and electrical inspection methods - ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts that will enable development and review of Quality Processes, and related Performance Metrics
Work with Engineering teams to incorporate all applicable specifications and customer requirements into Supplier PPAP processes
Work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions (NPIs), and PPAPS according to Supplier Quality Requirements / Supplier PPAP
Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance and driving improvement plans where needed to improve Non-Conformance Records and PPM performance
Closely monitor supplier performance and work with the suppliers to drive defect reductions and manage corrective actions
Build expertise to drive long term improvement; resulting in significant quality business impact; improvement in processes and standards, supplier capability development, ensuring sustainable improvement
Performs assessments and audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures

$77,400.00-$110,300.00The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
