About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army owned and operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States. It is relied upon by U.S. and foreign militaries to produce the most advanced, high-powered weaponry for cannon, howitzer, and mortar systems. Responsibilities Serves as facility technician for the chrome plating and metalizing machining center in the application of electronic theory, circuit design, and operating characteristics Applies expert knowledge of chrome plating and metalizing equipment, analysis of logic circuits, voltage and current operations, data input/output, control architecture Administers schematics, technical information, a knowledge of binary arithmetic, Boolean algebra and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and IC testers. Directs, coordinates and participates with other technicians in the installation and testing of computer and related electronic devices used in computer integrated chrome plating equipment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Working knowledge of electronic repair, fault analysis, inspection methodologies, and drawing/schematic interpretation; (2) Participating in the installation and/or testing of computer or electronic devices; and (3) Assisting in the creation of electronic support system installation and maintenance efforts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computers and Electronics Electronics Engineering Reasoning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
