About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army owned and operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States. It is relied upon by U.S. and foreign militaries to produce the most advanced, high-powered weaponry for cannon, howitzer, and mortar systems. Responsibilities Serves as facility technician for the chrome plating and metalizing machining center in the application of electronic theory, circuit design, and operating characteristics Applies expert knowledge of chrome plating and metalizing equipment, analysis of logic circuits, voltage and current operations, data input/output, control architecture Administers schematics, technical information, a knowledge of binary arithmetic, Boolean algebra and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and IC testers. Directs, coordinates and participates with other technicians in the installation and testing of computer and related electronic devices used in computer integrated chrome plating equipment. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Working knowledge of electronic repair, fault analysis, inspection methodologies, and drawing/schematic interpretation; (2) Participating in the installation and/or testing of computer or electronic devices; and (3) Assisting in the creation of electronic support system installation and maintenance efforts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
