Electronics Technician
**Position Description** **SUMMARY/PURPOSE:** + Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of assigned AES equipment, such as radar, precision approach radar, instrument landing systems, Tactical Navigational System, VHF/UHF AM radios, Meteorological Instruments etc. + Ensure compliance with all Serco Canada Inc. policies and procedures, including but not limited to Code of Conduct and Ethics, Serco Management System, PDR’s, etc. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Ensure all equipment, renovations and installations conform to DND requirements as specified in contract statements of work, work requests and directives. This includes work by contractors, DND civilian employees and military personnel. + Technical advisor for assigned AES equipment performing inspections, analyses, and reports. + Setup and operate all specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyse the performance of electronic equipment. + Assist in the performance of in-service support functions and participate in studies of related equipment, maintenance schedules, future requirements, sources of equipment failures and system safety. + Participate with DND personnel, civilian employees, and contractors regarding equipment installation, operation, and maintenance, including computer hardware and software, support equipment and the collection of data. + Investigate unusual maintenance problems and keep the AES Supervisor aware of any change in equipment serviceability status. + Participate in equipment maintenance training as required. + Keep track of spare parts and identify shortages to Supervisor. + Identify equipment performance problem areas and inform Supervisor. + Become knowledgeable on all Serco maintained airfield systems. + Be familiar with and knowledgeable on the proper use of all personal protection equipment. + Ensure all test equipment being utilized is calibrated. + Perform tasks of duty technician as required. + Assist in inspection, testing, adjusting and evaluation of all Airfield equipment. + Participate in all Airfield projects as directed. + Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time. + Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties. + Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required. + Comply with all regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the operations including occupational health and safety, environmental, drug and alcohol, and quality. **Qualifications** **JOB REQUIREMENTS:** **EDUCATION /CERTIFICATIONS:** + College diploma or equivalent training and experience in Electronics Technology. + Possession of a valid Class 5 SK Driver’s license. + Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required. + Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Level security clearance is required. + Ability to obtain a passport for travel to USA or other international destinations is required. **KNOWLEDGE and EXPERENCE** + Minimum of five years’ experience with Airfield Telecommunications, Radar, Navigational Aids, and Meteorological Systems desired. **SKILLS/Competencies (Interpersonal Communication, Financial, Managerial, Problem solving):** + Effective communication skills and ability to work cross functionally within the organization. + Excellent collaborative and organizational skills. + Strong degree of integrity and judgment. + Willing to take ownership for the outcomes of tasks within scope of responsibility. + Strong planning, coordination, execution, and analytical skills. + Proven ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities. + Ability to lift weights of up to 25KG and safely carry for up to 30 feet. + Ability to climb and work on ladders safely per Serco Ladder Use Directive and work at heights. + Ability to attend and pass a Tower Climbing and Rescue course. + Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. **MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT** + Mental: Activities are moderate intensity at more than 4 hrs/day or high intensity at 2-4 hrs/day + Physical: Activities are moderate intensity, 2-4 hrs/day. **Working Conditions:** + Regular or recurring exposure to disagreeable elements + Exposure to work outdoors in all weather conditions + Moderate risk of injury, harm, or illness **Company Overview** Serco Inc.
