ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN
Summary You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200), Combat Systems Division (Code 290), Sonar and Navigation Branch (Code 294) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide field services at the technician level. You will provide technical guidance for installations and testing of assigned systems required to execute complex projects. You will prepare Technical Work Documents for production work and tests during installation, conversion, or repair of assigned systems. You will conduct and perform pre-arrival testing to identify required repairs. You will prepare and perform review of all test specifications, check-off sheets, and inspection procedures, to be used in testing of assigned systems. You will serve as a senior technical consultant for acceptable operation and adjustment of the equipment and/or systems involved. You will act as a troubleshooter in the identification and resolution of problems encountered during installation and testing phases of waterfront production efforts. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying technical electronics methods, techniques, procedures, and/or policies to provide comprehensive management advisory and technical services on a full range of design, operation, and repair techniques for various types of Navigation or Sonar systems. Experience implementing knowledge of electrical/electronic systems together with an extensive practical experience with such systems and equipment with regard to their installations, operations, and interfaces with other systems sufficient to identify, evaluate, and recommend appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems. Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods. Experience evaluating changes to NAVSEA, corporate and local policies and directives, evaluating required process and procedural changes, and implementing those required changes affecting Combat Systems. Experience maintaining divisional repository of instructions and process manuals and ensuring timely periodic reviews are in accordance with existing policy. Experience implementing local and corporate policies, developing training materials and administering training departmental/divisional policies/processes. Experience acting as an independent evaluator to investigate and resolve disputes and discrepancies related to Combat Systems requirements, policies, and processes. Experience coordinating corporate and local document reviews, documenting all comments and facilitates adjudication of all comments and recommendations.
