ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (SUBLAN)
Summary You will serve as an Electronics Technician in the Testing and Technical Support Division, Weapons Repair Department, of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will provide technical support to Fleet and Shore customers pertaining to submarine Local Area Networks (LAN), Information Assurance (IA), Information Technology (IT) systems interfaces and External Communication Systems (ECS). You will provide engineering and technical expertise in TRIDENT Command and Control System (CCS)/Non-Propulsion Electronic System (NPES) hardware and software and are the CCS/ NPES SUBLAN/CANES technical point of contact. You will provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), waterfront/deck-plate logistics, management/coordination assistance and services; technical over-sight and consultation; over-the-shoulder maintenance training; and FTA data collection and reporting. You will conduct system/equipment operational and maintenance assessments which include scheduled shipboard assessments and continuous operational and maintenance data assessments. You will design, implement, perform, and evaluate local test plans/procedures to determine material readiness. You will identify, resolve, and report discrepancies and provide over-the-shoulder maintenance training to ships force and shop personnel. You will provide support for the following: modernization and installation, Shipyard/IMA, logistics and configuration management, and CHENG/Engineering Technical Authority. You will act as the Refit Technical Support Manager for assigned TRIDENT submarines. You will create and develop plans and procedures for isolation and resolution of difficult and complex shipboard system problems. You will analyze overall refit performance indicators/trends and projected workloads, as well as actual performance, and evaluate their relationship to the Weapons Repair Department to ensure comprehensive and responsive support is provided. You will coordinate, direct, and review subsystem testing; devise new tests, and modify existing tests to support new equipment configurations or conditions. You will provide representation at Network Review Conferences, assessments and certification of newly developed hardware/software, technical meetings, pre-arrival and arrival conferences, and production status meetings. You will provide expertise in the field of system level software and hardware for the command and control systems of the OHIO class SSBN and support functions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
