A valid Iowa teaching certificate.2. A bachelor's degree with a K-6 music endorsement Reports to: Elementary School Principal Consults with: Teachers, parents, students, community organizations, building administration and PLC. POSITION GOAL: To teach students in elementary grades the fundamentals of, and foster an appreciation for music as an art form, a performing medium and a leisure time activity. The goal is to be realized through innovative teacher-student interaction and instruction, and through providing students with quality opportunities for individual and group performance. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Organizes and leads elementary music activities.2. Develops a varied and appropriate selection of music and music appreciation opportunities for students. 3. Teaches the fundamentals of music and music appreciation to students in general music classes.4. Implements, monitors and updates the curriculum and content of the music program to ensure it reflects the district's philosophy and goals, meets the needs of the students, and represents the current state of the art of pedagogy and professional research and practice.5. Works on a cooperative basis with other teachers and administrators in the district to affect maximum musical opportunities for students, including cooperative scheduling for rehearsal and performance opportunities.6. Follows established district policies in the purchase of goods and services through the general account.7. Provides adequate supervision of students involved in school music activities taking place away from school facilities.8. Instructs and manages a minimum of one performance per grade level per year.9. Coordinates the program development of each production to assure large grade level participation and proper supervision of students, materials, and time schedules.10. Teaches sound performance skills and standards to the students as they learn to perform.11. Performs other various duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.12. Participate as a member of appropriate PLC. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary will be in accordance with provisions of the negotiated contract. The work year will be established by the Board with respect to job duties. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Negotiated Contract and Board policy.
