Elevator Technician
**Scope of Work** Independently perform electro/mechanical maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, test and operation of various types of electrically and hydraulically operated elevators. Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification. Perform work in other classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish the work assignment. Performs duties in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws and regulations and requirements and KSC/CCAFS energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy. **Duties and Responsibilities** + Work from verbal information, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, vendor manuals, and applicable national, state and municipal specifications, codes, and ordinances, including but not limited to the American National Standard Safety Code for Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators – ANSI A17.1, and American Standard Practice for the inspection of Elevators – A17.2. + Perform functional and operational tests of refurbished, repaired, and modified elevator equipment, assemblies, and system. + Use electrical and mechanical test instruments, measuring devices, and shop tools. + Maintain logs and records, as required. + Performs other related and/or associated duties as required. + Good organizational and planning skills + Good Communication skills + Ability to pay close attention to detail + Ability to operate and service various rotating equipment + Ability to work with computers + Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions + Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team- oriented environment + Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problem and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies. + Perform or assist with any departmental operations, under direction, to maintain work flow. + Must maintain security clearances, area permit(s), licenses, certifications, etc. required for performance of assigned tasks. + Must possess valid Florida Driver’s License. + This classification may include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities. **Physical requirements** + Lift minimum of 30-pound load up from the ground frequently + Walk six hours per day + Bend and stoop six hours per day + Work overhead with minimum 20-pound load + Work at heights + Push and pull frequently throughout the day + Walk up/down stairs frequently + Stand seven hours per day + Climb ladders and scaffolding + Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves) + Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously **Qualifications/Experience** High school diploma or equivalent.
