Job Summary: Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions to assist students who are English Language Learners.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Must create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers.Primarily responsible for the instruction English Language Learners to students from diverse backgrounds. Responsible for helping student improve English language skill, achieve TABE gains obtainment in assigned subject areas, and/or HSD/HSE obtainment.Responsible to meet department goals and objectives as assigned by department manager.Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation.Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning.Documents student’s records according to requirements of PRH and SOPs; accesses and inputs all relevant student data, including but not limited to: student attendance, performance, progress, positive behavior, and disciplinary incident; reports all significant behavioral incidents immediately to supervisor.Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.Utilizes provided curriculum resources, implements new curriculum, and develops curriculum through Educational Learning Plans.Integrates applied academic activities into daily classroom curriculum. Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.Responsible to track student performance and achievement, and assist students in setting short, intermediate, and long-term goals.Assesses and make recommendation student awards as approved within the Centers student incentive plan.Records attendance at the beginning of each class period and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms and entering case notes at least once a month for each student assigned.Responsible for following security measures to ensure that equipment, curriculum, test, and supplies are secured are cared for.Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms.Prepares report, requisitions, and prepares evaluations of student performance (ESP) in a timely manner.Assists Manager during scheduled property inventory.Monitors and reviews daily each student’s progress to ensure students are making adequate progress and preforming their own work. Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.Perform all similar and incidental duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Certified to teach in the state in which center is located (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification). Experience instructing ELL students.
Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth. The ability to speak multiple languages is a significant qualification.
Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to motivate and inspire students, ability to effectively related to student population.
