Embedded Software Engineer
Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerJob Description Our client specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of tether-powered aerial solutions, revolutionizing the government and commercial markets for long-duration, small footprint aerial surveillance and secure long-range communications. Our technology allows drones to remain on-station in the air almost indefinitely, providing continuous power and high-bandwidth data through a thin tether link. We contribute to various sectors, including the Army integrated tactical network and recent robotic combat vehicle (RCV) efforts. The Embedded Software Engineer will be a critical contributor to the design, development, and maintenance of software and firmware for our high-performance aerial systems, ground stations, and test fixtures. Responsibilities + Design and develop software and firmware for drone systems. + Maintain the efficiency of the software repository and version control systems. + Assist in overall system architecture design as well as high-level software architecture. + Participate in post-mission log investigations for failure analysis and insights into flight operations and aircraft performance. + Provide technical input and support to the software engineering team. + Contribute to the product roadmap and the maturation of the software design process. + Engage in various software processes including Trade Studies, Concept, PRD, and CDR. Essential Skills + Proficiency in C/C++ and embedded systems development. + Experience with RTOS, ARM, and microprocessors. + Solid understanding of software version control, particularly with GIT. + Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or comparable field. + 2-5 years of industry experience in embedded systems development. + Ability to obtain a secret clearance. + Experience with real-time hardware control and embedded Linux. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with software release control and distribution mechanics. + Experience with software-defined PID control systems, Robot Operating System (ROS), and autonomous navigation. + Familiarity with various computer vision sensor technologies and standard COTS flight controllers. + Defense or Aerospace experience preferred. + Ability to thrive in a high-tempo environment and adapt to rapidly shifting focus with company priorities. + Emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and prioritizing team success. + Willingness to travel as needed for demos, customer meetings, and relevant industry events. Work Environment This is an onsite role requiring presence 5 days per week. The work environment includes core hours with some flexibility for early or late arrivals and departures.
