Job Title: Base Software Developer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Base Software Developer with extensive experience in low-level software development. This role involves working with Linux, C development, Linux U-Boot, device drivers, and Yocto. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in low-level embedded software design, including board bring-up and driver development, and will be familiar with hardware schematics.

ResponsibilitiesInvestigate and reproduce bugs, discovering solutions to complex issues.Maintain and understand existing code to make necessary modifications.Develop and maintain low-level software, including device drivers and Linux U-Boot.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability and security of software products.Occasionally participate in board bring-up for new hardware.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering with C coding.Experience in device driver development.Strong knowledge of Linux and low-level embedded software design.Experience with board bring-up and hardware schematics.Familiarity with ARM CPU architecture.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with regression testing.Knowledge of Xilinx.Familiarity with Yocto.Experience mentoring and guiding more junior team members.Work Environment

Join a highly focused and dedicated team led by an experienced individual who has recently transitioned into management. The team is responsible for investigating and resolving bugs, which can take days or even weeks to figure out. While there isn't a lot of new software development, maintaining and understanding existing code is crucial. Board bring-up happens infrequently, typically once a year when new hardware is introduced. The work is dynamic and often ad hoc, focusing on fixing bugs and addressing security issues, making small changes to the code as needed. Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid, 2-3 times a week).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00
