The EMEA Classification Specialist will manage and be accountable for all aspects customs classification. The candidate will help to implement our tariff classification process to ensure compliance and operations efficiencies.
Primary duties:1. SERVICEHandling requests from various internal customers related to classification mattersResponding to incoming queries in a timely and professional manner to deliver a positive customer experience in each interaction.Building sustainable relationships and trust with internal and external partiesCooperation with stakeholders regarding execution of commissioned assigmentsReporting and communicating of performance2. CUSTOMS CLASSIFICATIONTechnical review of products, equipment, samples and prototypesInterpretation of technical customs regulations and understanding of PPG products to ensure correct & compliant customs classificationsInvolvement in item creation process in cooperation with SBU level ICC departments, maintaining correct and complete product customs classification in Oracle, SAP 100 & 300, SAP GTS.Verification of existing classifications & ensuring data completenessAssigning of customs classification for raw materialsAssigning of customs classification for all externally produced finished goodsReviewing supplier documents for reasonableness of classificationAssigning of customs classification for all internally produced intermediates & finished goodsBi-yearly analysis of WCO & EU Customs tariff changes, verification of impact on existing SKU classifications. Monitoring of changes in local rules and legislation and providing timely communication of events with potential business impactPrepare applications for customs rulings requests (BTI)3. AUDITS & POST SHIPMENT REVIEWSPreparing supporting documentation and reasoning for classificationEnsuring that suitable audit trails / change control is in place to ensure data integrity and control Support of external and internal audit commitments Implementing of post audit corrective actionsKey quilifications:3+ years of prior experience in Technical/R&D/Product Stewardship in paint industryDegree level in chemistryKey competencies:Organization and attention to detailAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentCreative analytical / investigative skillsMust be proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office (including Excel and Outlook)Strong computer skillsExperience with SAP and Oracle R12 is preferred but not requiredStrong oral and written communication skills and good customer orientation skillsKey success factors:The candidate must be able to understand and interpret government technical tariff classification regulations and utilize chemistry knowledge to best match products to classification. Classification must be done in accordance with the provisions outlined in the General Rules of Interpretation, Section and Chapter Notes and Binding Tariff Information issued by the customs authorities.
