Emergency Diversion Clinician

With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Emergency Diversion Clinician position in the Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SPGP) and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team!\n

Under the general supervision of the Suicide Prevention Program Manager, the Emergency Diversion Clinician will work as part of an integrated team assisting veterans at risk of suicide and will provide comprehensive emergency mental health and substance abuse services to individuals served by the program. This clinician will provide increased access to crisis services and proactive community response, especially for vulnerable populations, through co-response to community and home visits.\n

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:\n

This position is responsible for establishing and enhancing rapport with the participant in order to develop a detailed understanding of their behavioral and mental health needs. The clinician will conduct ongoing assessment of the participant's condition with the goal of helping them reach and maintain optimal functioning and avoid mental health crisis.\n\nProvides mental health and substance abuse support, education and assessment of individuals in crisis or at risk.\nProvide direct clinical counseling, support and guidance to VETAOE participants.\nServes as a behavioral health clinical team member of VET-AOE team, working in collaboration with all Veterans Inc. programs, and when clinically indicated conducting joint visits with the Veterans Inc. Independence Hall Treatment Center to access SUD services.\nResponds with team on community visits, especially in anticipated crisis situations, but also as part of proactive outreach to provide early identification and response for at-risk individuals to avoid more acute services.\nPerforms crisis evaluations as clinically appropriate.\nWorks with clients and families to explore community support for mental health, substance use and basic needs.\nProvides intervention services including crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up to initial evaluations.\nMaintains linkages with specific community services by providing documented case consultations and problem resolution.\nMaintains necessary documentation and records in accordance with program requirements.\n\n

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:\n\nMust have valid LICSW.\nMaster's Degree in counseling, social work or related field required\nExperience in crisis intervention and assessing mental health needs and substance use disorders, with demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the veteran and\/or homeless population preferred.\nThe ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing while maintaining client confidentiality and privacy.\nComfort talking about and addressing the topic of suicide on a day-to-day basis with knowledge and compassion regarding suicide prevention\nMust be able to successfully pass a CORI\/Background records check.\nCompliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.\n\n
