The intern will assist the Emergency Management Planner by participating in the development of plans, trainings, and exercises for Wilmington Hospital and the ChristianaCare Health System.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Contribute to the development of plans, trainings, and exercisesAssist with facilitation and evaluation of exercises that fall during the internship termAttend plan and exercise development meetings with the Emergency Management PlannerCreating and maintaining emergency response checklists and manualsCoordinating and conducting disaster preparedness outreach events and workshopsSupporting the Hospital Command Center (HCC) during incidentsMonitoring emergency situations and providing updatesParticipating in post-incident analysis and evaluationMaintaining emergency management databases and recordsConducting research on emergency management standard processesPreparing reports and presentationsKnowledge, skill, and ability requirements:Knowledge of departmental policies and proceduresKnowledge of all technical job duties and the ability to work independentlyAbility to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with coworkers and other personnelBasic typing and computer skillsEducation an ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED
Intern must have completed 2-3 years of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Emergency Management, Disaster Management, Homeland Security, Public Health, or a related field FEMA IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 recommended but not required.
Familiar with the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP), Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), and Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plans preferred
