Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Fellowship


 The Department of Emergency Medicine, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is accepting applications for our faculty position EMS Fellowships.  Optimal candidates will have completed an emergency medicine residency and must be BC/BE in Emergency Medicine.
 
Overview
These Fellowships equip emergency physicians to become leaders in emergency medicine services.  The goal of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) fellowship is to prepare highly qualified and motivated academic emergency physicians for leadership and medical oversight of pre- and out-of-hospital emergency care systems with advanced competencies in EMS system design, administration, and clinical care. The main components of this fellowship include: Focused training in fundamental tenets of pre-hospital emergency care.  Mentorship in the medical direction of EMS systems.  Direct-field experience with local, state and federal EMS programs.  Progressively graded medical control responsibilities for complex EMS systems with acquired proficiencies in fire-based, inter-facility, commercial, air medical and tactical medicine services.
 
Structure
The fellowships begin July 1 and last one year. Dependent on Fellowship Program, Fellows will divide their time between educational, clinical and field training and tenets of pre-hospital emergency care.
