Emergency Medical Technician

In anticipation of a future government award, GiaCare Inc. is currently accepting applications for experienced, civilian Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-Paramedics) at the 1st Special Operations Medical Group, in support of Hurlbert Air Force Base (near Fort Walton Beach, Florida).


Requirements

Degree/Education: Graduate from an accredited NREMT program. •

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support:  American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification. Current American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ACLS) (Adult) certification. Current American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (Pediatric) certification (PALS). Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification is encouraged but not required.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience within the last three (3) years.

Duties

Disinfect, restock, and prepare ambulances for immediate medical response to include during daily/monthly inspections. Ensure the ambulances are safe to operate, sanitary, and properly functioning.Provide a full range of Paramedic services within the MTF and supported geographical area.Assists in lifting carrying and moving patients to and from the ambulance and within the MTF. Must have to ability to lift 60 pounds and more. Position consists of a lot of time standing.Responsible for creating, maintaining, and disposing of medical documentation as required.Performs a full range of on site at the MTF and in the field. Practice within the guidelines set by the Flight CC, EMS Director and the EMS Medical Director. Provides ambulatory services and pre-hospital care for all types of patients (all ages) in accordance with AF EMS Protocols.Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates pre-hospital care for patients of all ages. Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging from infants to elderly.Recognizes medical emergencies and responds appropriately.Initiates CPR if required. Provide and or assist in administering advanced cardiac life support measures when necessary.Maintain proficiency in the operation of the ambulance radio equipment. Monitor and operate ambulance radio equipment as required by the circumstances.Provide the patient with the necessary and appropriate medical care in accordance with the AF EMS Protocols or online medical directions, consistent with ambulance equipment and supplies, and personnel certification, training, and experience during transport.Control and properly dispose of all medical waste incurred during transport.Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.NRP certification is required at the time of hire. State of Florida license must be obtained within 30 days of hire.As part of orientation candidate must obtain/maintain flight line vehicle operator certification.Civilian contractors must be neatly shaved and groomed as not interfere with respiratory isolation precautions, use of N95. Employee must maintain a professional appearance at all times.Other duties as assigned.
