Emergency Room Technician - Full Time

Position Summary:

To perform skilled tasks and prescribed procedures in the care of patients, under the direction of a licensed professional nurse; to perform routine nursing tasks, under the direction of a licensed professional nurse; and to perform duties supportive of nursing services.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care, performing delegated data collection, treatments and procedures in accordance with standards. Implements nursing directives communicated by the Registered Nurse, shift report, patient therapy profile, and nursing plan of care. Instructs patients and families as delegated. Responds to patient call bells, and notifies the Registered Nurse as necessary. Maintains the tidiness and cleanliness of patients’ rooms and patient care areas. Maintains designated equipment in appropriate working order, reporting needed repairs. Inventories and stocks designated instruments, equipment, and supplies. Maintains aseptic technique when handling sterile equipment/supplies and/or assisting with or performing invasive procedures. Handles clean and soiled linen, supplies, and equipment and disposes of waste materials in accordance with protocols and procedures. Ensures completion of requisition forms and/or patient charge forms when indicated. Documents pertinent observations and nursing procedures performed on the appropriate chart forms, in accordance with protocols and procedures. Reports patient problems, patient incidents or changes in patient status to a Registered Nurse or supervisor.    

Requirements      

ER Tech needed to work rotating shfits. Successful completion of a planned program of study preparing participants to provide care to patients, current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a nursing student who has successfully completed Level I of Nursing clinical skills required.   Successful completion of a unit clerk certificate program, or successful completion of at least 2 years in an accredited school of professional nursing, or one year previous experience as a unit secretary in a hospital setting preferred.  Two years patient care experience preferred.
