In our no wait ER, the Emergency Room Technician II (ER Tech II) is responsible for assisting licensed nursing staff in providing care to patients in the Emergency Care Center. The ER Tech supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital and does provide EKG monitoring for the Emergency Care Center along with Point of Care laboratory testing.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

 

High School Graduate or GED Required; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered. 2 semesters or 3 quarters of college chemistry with lab or equivalent experience required (see also Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities).

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

One-year hospital or pre-hospital experience preferred.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Current license as an EMT / Paramedic through the Texas Department of Health or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Certified in BLS through the American Heart Association.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

 

Computer Skills. Successful completion of an EKG competency assessment test. For moderate complexity lab testing, must have 2 semesters or 3 quarters of college chemistry with lab OR six months of documented experience conducting moderate-complexity lab tests.
