GENERAL DUTIES
Quality:
Assists in the implementation of a medical plan of care through the performance of specific tasks for which the tech is trained and delineated. Assures that documentation is in the medical records. Maintains equipment and supplies. Adheres to all HIPAA regulations.
Service:
Obtains patient’s vital signs as directed. After delineation, provide surface trauma or orthopedic care support per physician order or delegation of medical/nursing personnel. Communicate with the patient’s nurse practitioner to report any out-of-range vital signs or patient/parental concerns. Assists with specimen collection such as midstream, urine/clean, catch urine specimen, nasal swab, etc.
Regularly checks on patients both in patient’s rooms and emergency department waiting areas. Answers unit telephone, call lights, and alarms promptly to determine needs. Prepares patient room with supplies and assists with obtaining any additional supplies as directed. Escorts patients to treatment/testing areas throughout the facility as requested. After the patient’s discharge, clean the room of supplies/linen and disinfect the room according to policy if not done by housekeeping. Cleans unit equipment and maintains cleanliness of the unit, nourishment area, equipment room, storage rooms, and medication rooms.

Assists in emergencies. Communicates effectively to provide optimal patient care and promote a professional climate.
Community:
Supports organizational and departmental activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of experience in a related clinical area.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
American Heart Association, Basic Life Support Health Care Provider.
Non-Violent Crisis Prevention, Crisis Prevention Institute
