WHO ARE WE? NVS is a 24/7 veterinary specialty and emergency hospital. We are located in a recently expanded 24,000 square foot hospital with digital radiography, computed tomography (CT), on-site magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, endoscopy, access to an on-site commercial laboratory, and more. Our primary focus is to honor the human-animal bond in all we do, focusing on patient care, client experience, and the health of our team. Available shifts:
Shift: 6am - 6pm, 8am - 8pm / 3 days a week$4.50 per hour shift differential after 6pm and on Saturday/Sunday all dayPosition Responsibilities:
Prioritize patient care and client experience by providing gold standard treatmentCheck-in all ER patients into Smartflow, Ezyvet, and CubexPerform basic triage on all incoming ER cases and determine appropriate acuitiesObtain signatures from clients for estimatesInput basic history and start history template in EzyvetSupports front desk staffObtain and attach patient records if not done so alreadyDischarge patients when neededBe a liaison between ER and front desk teams, including answer questions and handling patient related issuesDetermine if patient needs ER or Urgent CareAid technical floor staff with STATsAnswers incoming ER phone callsComplete Cubex competency testStay up to date on DEA/controlled drug laws in Tennessee and federally and implementReport medication errors and patient concerns directly to Patient Care ManagerComplete all training with assigned trainerIf a patient is identified as a STAT and they are at home - Invite them to the hospitalIf a patient is identified as a STAT and they are in the parking lot - call a STAT/take patient the the treatment areaAttend required NVS staff meetings, department meetings, and training sessions
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of veterinary experience requiredLVMT license preferred, but not required2+ years ER experience preferredExperience in veterinary triage medicineAbility to recognize a patient in critical condition (i.e. a STAT patient)Experience as a receptionist or Client Service RepresentativeExcellent communication skills and client services; the ability to multitask on the phone and computerEffective communicator with clients in stressful/high emotion situationsEfficient intake progression to keep the workflow of the emergency department flowing smoothlyOpen to direct communication with the doctor on staff and support teamThe ability to adapt to high volume caseload in regards to getting patients in for treatment and discharged post carePhysical/Environmental Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of each of these jobs. This position involves a potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and the use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
