Emerging Technologies Technical Expert (Quantum Engineering)

**Description**
The Missions, Concepts and Capabilities (MCC) division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a knowledgeable **Emerging Technologies Technical Expert** in quantum computing, engineering and/or science to support program oversight of and advocacy for leading-edge Science & Technology for the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). In this position the employee will recommend adjustments to the DoD’s science and technology strategies for emerging technology areas through research and direct interface with the Department of Energy (DOE), OSD Staff, Joint Staff, defense agencies, services, other government agencies, industry, and academia. The employee will provide subject matter expertise in quantum engineering, offering insights into emerging technologies and their potential applications within DoD platforms. This position is on-site at the Pentagon five days per week.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 8-10 years of recent and relevant experience
+ Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
+ Top Secret/SCI clearance
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable recommendations
+ In-depth knowledge of quantum computing, sensing and other emerging technologies
+ Proficient in technical writing
+ Experience providing technical oversight of projects
+ Proficient communication skills, including unstructured verbal interactions, briefings, and meeting moderation
+ Demonstrated success in leading the conception and execution of technical projects
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ PhD degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or other relevant field
+ Experience supporting quantum computing or quantum sensing projects
+ Proven track record of working with DoD Service elements and integrating technical solutions with defense platforms
