The Employee Labor Relations Specialist provides high-level professional analysis, consultation, coaching, and training to campus clients on performance and conduct management, organizational development, strategic planning, policy and regulatory compliance, interpretation and application of university policies, and resolution of workplace problems. The Employee Labor Relations Specialist provides guidance on contract management and interpretation expertise, assists management with investigating and processing grievances, arbitration preparation, and responses to information requests. In addition, establishes and maintains effective relationships with the labor unions, and provides labor relations support in preparation for and during contract negotiations as assigned.The Employee Labor Relations Specialist delivers labor relations and positive employee relations training as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Labor Relations, or related field and 3 to 5 years of experience with demonstrated/knowledge of HR principles and best practices, including the management of union contracts and grievance processing activities preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to employment and labor laws.

Serves as a professional consultant for Employee Labor Relations and respective entities. Provides training and coaching to University staff regarding Employee Labor Relations topics such as conduct management, organizational development, strategic planning, and policy and regulatory compliance.Assists in tracking employee grievances and ensures appropriate follow-up on investigations. Oversees the disciplinary process to ensure compliance with University, Federal, State, and local laws and/or regulations. Supports management in conducting hearings, investigating issues, and formulating satisfactory resolutions.Evaluates and researches professional trends and issues in specialty areas relevant to Employee Labor Relations. Identifies and recommends new policy or program initiatives in specialty areas designed to enhance delivery and quality of service.
