Employee Assistance Program Liaison
Summary About the Position: This is a position with the 81st Regional Support Command, Health Service Branch located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Responsibilities Serve as Employee Assistance Program Liaison point of contact for Department of Army Civilians and family support referral programs such as Army Substance Abuse and Federal Drug-Free Workplace. Establish administrative process for employees and supervisors dealing with performance problems in the workforce. Develop and maintain working relationships and networks with community services, medical personnel, and organizations to facilitate prevention, education, and resolve problems. Initiate and maintain liaison with Army and other military and civilian community human service providers to coordinate quality programs and services. Conduct initial interview and assessment of employee’s problem(s) which may interfere with job performance. Review programs to ensure employee, family members, and supervisors understand and have access to the best possible services. Coordinate with management to conduct workplace assessments to obtain statistical data for reporting purposes. Plan and conduct new employee orientation and other briefings as required on substance abuse, drug free workplace, and adult living issues topics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting and providing guidance on family support referral programs; utilizing clerical and administrative procedures to complete reports and prepare brochures and flyers; and assisting with referring employees and family members to resources and programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: sociology, psychology, counseling, and social work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government's interest. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment.
