You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Client Consulting Role in Employee Experience – Communications and Advisory Relating to Transformation, Employee Engagement Employees are at the heart of an organization and leaders are increasingly recognizing the need to actively engage and communicate to employees in times of transformation and to achieve high performance. Customer-centered companies are powered by people-centered culture. Many multinational companies and Japan-head quartered companies are working with Edelman’s Employee Experience advisory team to partner with them to engage and communicate well in modern, employee-centric ways. The Role This is a Tokyo-based client-facing role where we provide communication advisory and delivery services to global and Japan-headquartered companies in both Japanese and English. A successful candidate will have 5 - 12 years of experience, preferably as an external consultant, in one or more of the following domains: strategic internal communications, change communications, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), human capital strategies, culture diagnosis, employer brand and talent recruitment campaigns and employee engagement.

We work in cross-functional teams ranging from colleagues who are experts in Media, Brand, Journalism, Creative, Production, Digital, Research, Industry Specialists and more.
We’re looking for a team member who is  ·       a self-directed, experienced team member with a growth mindset who stays updated on leading communication practices ·       passionate about communications and change advisory work·       passionate about people development - mentoring, motivating, teaching and coaching others
The final designation of the role will depend on the years of experience of the successful candidate.

The key areas of responsibility are:Lead and own all aspects of client programs, including building strong client relationships, proactively delivering counsel to clients, developing strategic plans, overseeing day-to-day work program execution and the work of several team members, managing account budgets, staffing and work quality, integrating expertise from the broader Edelman network, and partnering with senior colleagues. Degree of leadership will depend on your level of experience. Support business development, including new business, organic growth with existing clients, prospecting, and developing innovative new service offerings and approaches for our clients. The degree of support will depend on your level of experience.Talent development for colleagues whom you manage directly or indirectly; serving as a role model and champion for development beyond the immediate team.
For more experienced candidates:Maintain strong internal and external networks and visibility through thought leadership, contributing to marketing efforts and identifying opportunities to increase team and capability profiles.Financial management, including negotiating contracts, supervising and forecasting account budgets, and managing invoicing, billing and client reporting.
Preferred Qualifications (top four are requirements, rest are advantageous):A bachelor's degree or professional qualifications in communications, business administration, organizational development, industrial psychology or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including Business level English and JapaneseProven track record in change communications, internal communications, employee engagement, learning & development, workplace advisory with large organizations, preferably as an external consultantExcellent planning, organizational and project management skillsExperience working with and counseling senior managementHighly adaptable and able to work across several clients and projects, managing them all confidently and with a high level of competenceExperience managing clients – either at an agency, consulting firm or in-house as a communications/engagement business partner

First, this candidate will partner closely with the Edelman Japan President, who also oversees the APAC Employee Experience offering; second, they will be a member of the APAC and broader global Employee Experience team and, third, they will sit within the Edelman Japan corporate team which is made of up of more than 20 consultants, and includes former journalists, senior in-house practitioners, government advisors and industry specialists as well as dedicated media and crisis experts who develop and deliver integrated communications strategies and programs for world’s leading brands.
