The Employee Health Services (EHS) Nurse is a Registered Nurse who provides direct and indirect nursing care for AHMC Seton Medical Center’s employees, contract employees and non-employee groups, with particular emphasis in the area of occupational health. The Nurse Clinician utilizes established protocols and current standards of care to meet the wide variety of occupational health care needs of the AHMC Health employees.
The Employee Health Nurse will be working closely with the Infectious Diseases Medical Director. This position requires complete involvement in the Infection Prevention program including ongoing active surveillance of trends at the hospital, recognition of areas of improvement and formulation of action plans to improve the quality of the program.
The Employee Health Nurse will be positioned in direct interaction and partnering with administrative and physician leaders to accomplish the Employee Health department goals at the hospital; for example, bloodborne pathogen preventative programs, post exposure management, etc. The position is tailored for a detailed-oriented, dedicated person to thrive in an acute and Post-Acute hospital setting.
ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)
Clinical Practice: Nursing

Performs bloodborne pathogen exposure assessment, treatment and follow up.

Participates in preventative screening programs (e.g. TB skin testing, influenza, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella and other appropriate immunizations) and surveillance programs designed to identify and monitor risks to the employee’s health.

Safely administers and appropriately documents on immunizations and TB skin tests given to facility’s employees, contract employees and non-employee groups per protocol.

Perform communicable disease exposure follow-up.

Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patient information and medical records.

Systematically collects, analyzes, and interprets health data in order to plan, implement, and track compliance of Employee Health requirements.

Conducts educational and training activities for healthcare workers through instruction and dissemination of information on healthcare practices, including respiratory protection practices, immunization vaccination campaigns, etc.
With the assistance of the Infection Preventions, the Employee Health Nurse conducts outbreak investigation, trains staff members on implementation of infection prevention practices, investigates incidents of infections and reports such incidents to the appropriate person/department, and ensures availability of supplies required for infection prevention activities.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one-year Registered Nurse experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Current California licensure as a Registered Nurse. Current Basic Life Support certification.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledgeable of the California Nursing Practice Act. Able to understand and follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, and regulations of Nursing Service, Seton Medical Center, Title XXII.
