Summary :The Employee Health Nurse provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for analyzing employee injury data, identifying trends and collaborating interprofessionally to develop and implement employee injury preventative measures. Furthers the professional practice of nursing at ThedaCare by promoting a culture of innovation and a commitment to growth and professional development.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess the physical condition and nursing needs of employees, and develops a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the employee and interprofessional team.

Utilizes employee health information system to record and retrieve employee health data, prepare reports and analyze data as requested.

Maintains current knowledge of employee health regulations, assists managers and staff with compliance, provides input to policy, procedures and protocols related to employee health services.

Analyzes employee injury data to identify risks and collaborates with interprofessional team to implement employee injury prevention protocols.

Participates in direct service delivery, including but not limited to immunizations, TB skin screening, color discrimination testing, respirator fit testing, communicable and Bloodborne exposure management. 

Collaborates with infection control to prevent the spread of communicable disease between patients and staff.

Collaborates with disability management team to assist employees with injury/exposure management and return to work process.

Collaborates with human resources to administer policy surrounding reasonable suspicious behavior and misappropriation of medication which includes urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Current Wisconsin RN Licensure

Bachelor of Science in nursing.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance

Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock 

Occasional high noise level in work environment

Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time

Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents

Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
