Job DescriptionThe Leave and Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering all employee leaves of absence, including but not limited to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Workers' Compensation, and other company-provided leave programs. This role also handles benefit invoicing, employee inquiries related to leave and benefits, and maintains accurate employee records. On the front-lines of managing employee needs, this role is critical to the success of the People Operations team as it grows and scales to support our fast growing employee base.
Primary Job Duties:
Manage all aspects of employee leave requests, including intake, processing, tracking, and process improvementServe as the primary point-of-contact for employees regarding leave and benefit inquiries, including providing process guidance and supportCoordinate with medical providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to obtain and maintain required documentation and employee enrollmentsMonitor leave durations and communicate with employees regarding leave status and return-to-work timelinesEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local leave laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation) and stay abreast of changes and opportunities for improvementProcess and reconcile benefit invoices from insurance carriers and other vendorsAssist with open enrollment activities, including communication and educationMaintain accurate employee benefit records in HRIS systemsAssist with audits and internal control reviewsOther duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum of 3 years of experience in leave administration and/or benefits administrationStrong knowledge and experience in administering of FMLA, ADA, and other leave lawsStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesExperience with HRIS systems and benefit administration platforms, Paylocity and bSwift preferredStrong Excel experience working with functions like VLOOKUP, formulas, pivot tables, etc preferredExcellent analytical skills and research skills Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to maintain confidentiality and discretionThe salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 in base pay exclusive of any bonuses or benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, 401K, paid time off, and other wellness programs). This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 10%. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
