Employee Relations Manager

YOUR IMPACT
As an Employee Relations Manager at OpenText, you will be a pivotal member of the newly established Employee Relations Centre of Excellence. Reporting to the Senior Director of Employee Relations, you will provide coaching, consulting, and mentorship to leaders, HR staff, and employees on various employee relations matters. Your expertise will help shape a positive and compliant work environment across North America, with a strong focus on U.S. and Canadian legislation. 
 

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
•  Lead and consult on performance management cases, delivering objective feedback and providing solid documentation.
•  Conduct investigations by assembling investigation teams, gathering facts, interviewing witnesses, and recommending actions.
•  Handle complex and emotionally charged issues with composure and neutrality.
•  Mediate workplace conflicts to minimize disruption.
•  Oversee complex leave situations, ensuring compliance and clear communication.
•  Partner with Legal to analyze and resolve HR legal matters, ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws.
•  Interpret and apply labor laws in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and other countries in the Americas.
•  Provide input and recommendations to improve the work environment based on monthly and quarterly reporting on employee relations matters.
•  Maintain strict confidentiality and establish credibility across the organization. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent HR experience.
•  8+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations.
•  Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
•  Ability to handle difficult situations and mediate conflicts effectively.
•  Experience conducting neutral and timely investigations.
•  Strong judgment and confidentiality skills.
•  Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
•  Proven ability to analyze complex situations and recommend optimal solutions.
•  Experience in mentoring, developing, and coaching others.
•  Knowledge of U.S. and/or Canadian employment law.
•  Strong business acumen and experience in a large global organization.
•  High degree of business ethics and transparency.
•  SHRM-SCP or similar certification is an asset.
•  Fluency in French, Portuguese, and/or Spanish is a bonus.
